Sports osteopath in Asnières-sur-Seine
I looked after Poissy Triathlon athletes from 2009 to 2017: pre-race preparation, post-effort recovery, management of overuse injuries. At the Asnières-sur-Seine practice I apply the same method to runners, cyclists, swimmers, strength and crossfit athletes and team-sport players, from weekly recreation to competition.
Three moments when a session genuinely changes something
Sports osteopathy has a different purpose depending on where you are in the calendar. Confusing them wastes the benefit.
- In preparation, well before the event: clear the restrictions limiting your movement, at least 8 to 10 days before a race and never the day before.
- In recovery, 48 to 72 hours after a long effort: restore thoracic mobility and drainage, shorten the stiff phase.
- In prevention, off-season or during a training block: treat the asymmetry or restriction that is setting up the next tendinopathy.
The injuries I see most often
Overuse conditions dominate by a wide margin, and they almost always have a cause upstream of the painful point:
- Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, shin splints
- Iliotibial band syndrome in runners
- Groin pain in footballers and handball players
- Swimmer’s, thrower’s and bench-press shoulder
- After an ankle sprain: lost mobility and recurrence
- Low back pain in cyclists and strength athletes
What I examine, beyond the painful area
Achilles tendinopathy is almost never an Achilles tendon problem. I work back up the chain every time: ankle dorsiflexion, knee control, pelvic position, opposite-foot loading, and often thoracic mobility: breathing shapes running posture far more than people assume.
I also look at what your equipment and planning are telling me: shoes, saddle height, weekly volume, load progression, training surface. Treating without correcting the training cause guarantees recurrence.
Working with other professionals
Osteopathy is one link, not the whole chain. Muscle tears, stress fractures and complete ligament injuries belong to sports medicine and imaging. Returning from injury needs strengthening, so a physiotherapist or a strength coach.
When the situation calls for it, I say so and refer you on. That is the difference between athlete follow-up and a one-off session.
Frequently asked questions
When should I book before a race or marathon?
At least 8 to 10 days before the event. A session the day before can alter your proprioceptive references at the worst possible moment. A recovery session 48 to 72 hours after the race, on the other hand, is very useful.
Can I train on the day of my session?
Avoid intense effort for 24 to 48 hours afterwards. An easy run, gentle cycling or mobility work are fine. The body needs to integrate the changes before being loaded hard.
Does osteopathy replace physiotherapy?
No, they complement each other. Osteopathy restores mobility and clears compensations; physiotherapy rebuilds strength and motor control. With an overuse injury, one without the other leaves the job half done.
Do you treat athletes at every level?
Yes. The analytical framework is the same for the Sunday runner and the competitor: what changes is volume, load and calendar. The fee is identical, €70 per session.
